Debbie Capeci, the founder of Morning Joy Media, grew up in Maine. She graduated from the University of Maine at Orono with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. Upon graduation, she took a position with General Electric in the Berkshires of Massachusetts, where she met her future husband, Jonathan.

Debbie graduated from GE’s Information Management Systems Program then she and her husband relocated to the Philadelphia area. She later graduated from Rosemont College with a master’s degree in Publishing.

Morning Joy Media began publishing books in 2009 with the launch of Learning to Follow Jesus by Daniel McNaughton. At that time Dr. McNaughton was the Lead Pastor of Spring Valley Community Church (now Connection Church in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, where Debbie and Jonathan continue to attend), and had a desire to create a tool that could be used by churches for discipleship training and spiritual coaching. Over the succeeding years, other pastors and ministry leaders have joined with MJM and Dr. McNaughton to created related books, videos, and children’s curriculum. Learning to Follow Jesus and its related versions have sold over 100,000 copies, have been translated into several languages, and are being used in churches and ministries in several countries besides the US.
